Things I wish I learned in med school...

...that I actually learned from my Women's Health magazine:

It turns out that cursing when you do something painful like stubbing your toe can actually decrease pain. A study was conducted where they had people put their hands in ice water and the people who cursed while doing it were able to leave their hands in longer than the people who said neutral words. It seems that there is a scientific basis for something we've all known forever.... Now I don't feel as bad for dropping some F-bombs when I inevitably smack a body part on something hard. (But really, who pays for these ridiculous studies?!)
